Biography
Virginia Leeper has been a member of the Washington State Bar since 1980. Ms. Leeper is also admitted to practice in Oregon and the United States District Courts for the Western District and Eastern Districts of Washington, the District of Oregon, and the United States Court of Appeals, Ninth Circuit.
Her practice is civil litigation, which has included product liability, premises cases, auto accidents, toxic torts, and employment law. Asbestos litigation and employment law have been her predominate focus..
She has tried cases in Superior Courts and appeared before the Washington Courts of Appeal. She has successfully tried numerous cases in Washington and other states. She has worked with local counsel in asbestos product cases in Oregon, California, Missouri, Pennsylvania, New Mexico, Hawaii, Illinois, Florida, New Jersey, New York, Delaware, Connecticut, Kentucky, Arkansas and Louisiana.
In addition to trying cases, Ms. Leeper has participated in witness development in the areas of epidemiology, toxicology, risk assessment, industrial hygiene, public health and economic loss. She has helped develop trial defenses on a local and national basis, including cross-examination of most national plaintiff experts in asbestos litigation.
Ms. Leeper has served on the Washington State Bar Association Disciplinary Board and on the Washington State Bar Association Board for Lawyers’ Fund for Client Protection. She has also served as an arbitrator for fee disputes. She is a past member of the Washington State Trial Lawyers Association and served on the Task Force on Mandatory Arbitration in King County Superior Court. She has served as a Special Assistant Attorney General on behalf of the Washington State Department of Labor and Industries. She serves as a pro tem Court Commissioner for King and Snohomish Counties, and has been on the panel of arbitrators for those counties. She served as Secretary for the King County Bar Association’s Judiciary & Litigation Committee for eight years.
Ms. Leeper received her Juris Doctorate from the University of Santa Clara School of Law in 1978. She graduated from the University of Santa Clara with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology in 1975.
