Biography
Nicholas (Nick) Holy is an Associate Attorney in Sinars Slowikowski’s Chicago office, practicing in toxic tort litigation. Prior to becoming an attorney, Nick was a paralegal for over five years at a mid-sized commercial litigation firm in Washington, D.C.
Nick earned his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Illinois College of Law at Urbana-Champaign in 2024. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from The George Washington University in 2016, majoring in Political Science and History, and went on to complete his Master of Public Administration degree at The George Washington University in 2017.
During law school, Nick represented the College of Law in several American Bar Association (ABA) student competitions. As a member of the school’s Negotiations and Client Counseling teams, Nick traversed the country with his competition partner, gaining practical attorney experience and winning several awards, including Best Legal Brief and Best Overall Attorney.
In his final year, Nick participated in the College of Law’s Veterans Legal Clinic, serving the legal needs of veterans in the central Illinois community. Using his student law license, he represented former service members in court on matters ranging from family law and contract disputes to expungements and consumer financial complaints. For his contributions, Nick was awarded the Clinical Legal Education Association (CLEA) Outstanding Clinic Student Award, recognizing his coursework, leadership, and service to the clinic community.
Upon graduation, Nick was honored by the College of Law with a Rickert Award for Excellence in Service, recognizing his commitment to upholding the spirit of the law, as well as his lasting contributions to the law school community and the greater profession of law.
In his free time, Nick enjoys reading historical biographies, perfecting his Beef Wellington recipe, fishing in Illinois’ freshwater lakes, taking his rescue yellow lab mix for walks, and hunting each spring for the ever-elusive morel mushroom.
