Biography

Matthew Vlasman is an associate with Sinars Slowikowski Tomaska. He concentrates his practice on product liability and occupational injury claims, including asbestos litigation. Prior to joining SST, Matt worked for a defense litigation firm where he successfully defended product manufacturers, industrial contractors, and employers. He handled every aspect of a large caseload from inception to trial including discovery, motion practice, deposition coverage, and court hearings. Matt worked closely with insurers, national counsel, and general counsel to consistently deliver a cost-effective, zealous defense.

Matt graduated from The University of South Carolina School of Law, cum laude, in 2013. During his time in law school, Matt served as Senior Articles Editor for the South Carolina Law Review, a teaching assistant for a section of Legal Writing and Research, and as a tutor for a section of Contracts I & II. Matt also earned Dean’s List honors for five out of six semesters, earned a CALI award in two classes, including Legal Writing and Research, and was a member of the Order of the Wig and Robe, Phi Delta Phi, and JDFC, the law school’s soccer team. Prior to law school, Matt spent four years teaching high school English after graduating with a BS in Secondary Education from Indiana University.

In his free time, Matt enjoys spending time with his wife and three children; an absorbing activity which leaves little room for much else most days. But when not immersed in family life, Matt finds quiet respite in his love of reading classical fiction, playing and coaching soccer, and barely staving off heart failure while watching his Indiana Hoosier basketball squad.
