Biography
John D. Nafar is an associate attorney at Sinars Slowikowski Tomaska. John attended Purdue University, Krannert School of Management, where he received his Bachelors of Science in Business Management with a concentration in operations management. Prior to attending Purdue University, John was a General Manager of a car dealership. During his time as a General Manager, he managed employees, inventory, and all other managerial aspects of the business.
After receiving his Bachelor’s degree from Purdue University, John worked at Honda North America, as a Senior Buyer. During his time at Honda North America, John accounted for the supplier selection of seat belts and seat heaters on Honda vehicles. His responsibility was to find ways to cut the costs of seat belts and seat heaters, while maintaining the high quality and required specs of Honda Engineers. To achieve this, John developed strategic and cost effective supply chains, held discussions with electrical and mechanical engineers, visited factories to gain an understanding of the manufacturing process, and researched and monitored industry trends (sourcing, technology, market price, etc.). After analyzing all the ways to cut costs, John would engage in negotiations with a host of suppliers that involved contracts in the millions. While at Honda North America, John built strong relationships with suppliers, performed timely supplier selection and Bill of Material (BOM) maintenance, and achieved new model cost targets through effective supplier selection and negotiation.
John earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Arizona, James E. Rogers School of Law, where he received the Dean’s Achievement Scholarship, which included a full-tuition scholarship, and was a Victor J. Hayek Scholar. During his time at law school, he interned at the Pima County Attorney’s Office. John is licensed to practice law in the State of Missouri and the State of Illinois.
